While stumbling, I StumbleUpon Dear Photograph. A simple site that speaks volumes about photographs and the importance of the memories attached to them.
Snapshots taken in the past are revisited in the present by aligning the old image with the same environment but in present day. It is a powerful visual statement but included in each post is the message from the original poster about what the new photo means to them. Some are self-reflection while others are remembering lost loved ones but all tell a unique story.
As a photographer, sites like these make me smile. It shows the value of our memories. I’ve understood this from such an early age. When family would get together to go through old chests from the past I was always right there waiting for what I was sure to be some amazing photographs and I was never disappointed. Hours of reminiscing over childhood memories and the stories I’ve heard, treasured time.
Thank you Taylor Jones for coming up with a unique original idea. I will be bookmarking your site and visiting it often.
