When I think family dog, I think Golden Retrievers and I should: I’ve had two. We lost one of our boys last year and have finally decided we are ready for a new addition to our family. Meet Dickens. My daughter decided the name months ago and though we have had a name picked for years, I knew who would win this battle. Besides … Dickens is such a cute name and kind of fitting. Hops, the one we lost, had an official name: ‘Troublemaker with a capital T’. I don’t believe you can replace a loved one and especially pets but to have this new puppy linked to Hops is comforting and let’s face it … golden retrievers get into lots of stuff and they ARE little dickens so keeping the idea of trouble in the mix … works for me! See how I justified how the 5 year old got her way? Can you say spoiled?
Speaking of the 5 year old, a few photos of her with some puppies … she wasn’t happy was she?

There were so many adorable little puppies, I mean COME ON, how can you pick when all of them are just too cute? But we couldn’t take them all, so how do we decide on Dickens … we needed a sign. And finally we got one. A sign in the form of frog legs. Okay, not really frog legs just the way he stretched out and flatten his back legs. We call that frog legging and are very use to it since Barley does it all the time. Was clearly our sign and we knew we had to pick that one.

So without further ado … here is Dickens. I’m sure you will get to see LOTS of photos of this sweet little guy as he progresses from puppy to adult. I mean, come on … have you seen all the cute adorable cat photos? Poor Dickens never had a chance!

And if you are in the Austin area and are interested in a Golden yourself, do check out this wonderful family. There was no doubt of their love for this breed and having two young children, those puppies are already on their way to being some amazing family dogs.
